Hi, I’m Iván – a certified EN<>ES technical translator. Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients, from new entrepreneurs all the way to conglomerates. In the process, I’ve come to realize that in order to convey the perfect message, understanding a company’s distinctive voice is paramount.
That’s why I go further to research how your services could be advantageous for the target audience. In doing so, I am able to deliver accurate EN<>ES language services. I draw on my engineering background and translating experience to help you successfully expand your businesses into Latin America, the US and Spain.
I look forward to collaborating with you.
Industry-standard TEP (Translation + Editing + Proofreading) translation. I will take care of all your language needs—from single-word SMS messages to full platform translations.
You can decide if you want to adapt your products' translation to a specific Spanish-dialect or region. Pro tip: Using the same Spanish text for Latin America and Spain is no bueno.
Machine translation has certainly made great strides in the past few years, but you know what makes it even better? An actual human translator's review.
Let's work together to create that killer hook—one that not even Canelo could top. Now that your company is growing within the global market, you'll want to keep your brand's tone consistent across the board.
Iván is a pleasure to work with. We rely on him to provide in-depth cultural analysis of music lyrics from different Spanish-speaking countries. He’s always reliable and delivers well-researched work.
Thank you very much for the editing and the clear notes! It's been a pleasure working with you on this job, and I hope to continue with other jobs soon. Thank you!
Your work is excellent, it's really at the level I like to work. I will certainly take you into consideration for the next project.
First, you reach out to me about your project and mention any special requirements (delivery date, DTP, CAT tool, etc.) you may have.
Based on your requirements, I will create a quote for your project with different options for added services, delivery timelines and total costs.
Next, you review the quote. After making sure you agree with all the project terms, you give me the green light to start working.
Based on our agreed-upon terms, I will gather all the materials, data, and team members necessary to complete your project. As I work, I will consistently keep you up-to-date.
Depending on your requirements, an additional proofreading/review step by a different native translator will be required before the translation project is complete.
You get your project back on time so you can review/accept it, and you give me feedback for our future collaborations.

Your work will be done by a certified translator and it will undergo an industry-standard TEP process. This process will ensure your target texts are accurate and consistent with your original materials.
Do you have a highly complex/technical topic that needs to be translated? Let me help you get your message across. Specialized translations are my strong suit.
Advertise your products and services to the Latin American, US Latino and Spanish markets. Take the local cultures into account in order to maximize your brand’s opportunities.
Send me a message if you have any urgent modifications or additions to your projects; you'll always be updated on important project milestones.
Repetition builds your reputation, and your reputation brings in customers. Check out my clients' testimonials and my recent projects below.
My native language is Spanish, so most of my language projects have been EN>ES. Since I’m certified as an ES>EN translator, as well, I have completed projects in both language pairs.
I have over 8 years of experience as a freelance translator, working both for direct and agency clients. I started back in 2014 after switching from engineering.
Please check the recent projects section below.
I hold a B. S. in Software Engineering from the National University of Colombia (acceptance rate just over 10%) and a certificate (pass rate under 10%) as an official EN<>ES translator and interpreter from the same university. I obtained the top score in the translating section of the certification exam among 100+ candidates.
Yes I am! I have experience both as a consecutive (liaison) and simultaneous interpreter in events such as business matchmaking forums, tech-related conferences and training courses.
Given my background as an engineer, my specialization is technical topics mainly relating to IT (software, computers, telcom, apps, gaming, etc.), as well as industrial and manufacturing ones. For example, I specialize in materials like websites, manuals/user guides, technical documentation, online help, packaging, EULA & ToS, patents & legal documents, and training & e-learning materials. I have successfully delivered projects relating to the other main fields of translation as well (marketing, financial, legal, medical).
Yes, I do. Proofreading/editing/post-editing is crucial if you want your product/service to engage your target audience. You don’t want a rushed (or god forbid, machine!) translation. Instead, you want a well done, thorough human review/translation process.
That depends. For general texts, an average of 2500 words per day for translation and 6000 for review is a good estimate, but depending on your project’s topic and complexity this can vary (increase/decrease) a little. It is worth noting that for long-term collaborations, the average word-per-day delivery rises as the project progresses. This is because the translation process and terminology gets streamlined.
As in languages, EN>ES and ES>EN. As in materials, anything: websites, software, apps, posts, messages, documentation, brochures, reports, manuals, certificates, contracts, etc. You say it. As in fields, all the main ones: technical, marketing, legal, business, social and pure sciences, gaming, etc.
Yes, I do. However, the catch is that most translation certificates are valid only country-wide. Therefore, I can only certify translations from/to Colombia.
Yes. Trados is my go-to CAT tool. However, if your project requires the use of specific CAT software, I can work with all the popular ones.
If your job’s delivery rate is well over 2500 words per day for a translation or 6000 words for reviewing, chances are I won’t be the only one doing the job. I have a small network of translators with whom I have worked over the years, so you can rest assured I will meet your project’s deadlines.
You can calculate the delivery date by dividing your project’s total word count by 2500. The resulting figure is the number of days it will take me to deliver the final product (e.g. for a total word count of 40000, divide by 2500 = 16 business days for delivery).
Short answer: That depends. Long answer: All projects are unique and you have to take many variables into account, such as the complexity (general/technical/highly technical), file type (DTP required or not), urgency (work on weekends, etc.), and size (discounts for large long-term projects), just to mention the most relevant ones. Those factors must be considered in order to come up with a fair rate that works for both of us.
Choose your preferred way to contact me and describe your project’s requirements (ideally by attaching the material to be translated/reviewed). A few minutes later, I’ll get back to you with a quote. If you agree with the quote’s conditions, I’ll start your translation right away.
There are many different options: SEPA, ACH, Payoneer, Wise, PayPal, PayU, WorldRemit, Azimo, Remitly, WesternUnion, etc.
In the contact section, you can fill the form out with your requirements and attach the document(s) that needs to be translated. You will also find my social media pages there, or you can send me a WhatsApp/Telegram message at the bottom right of the page.
